Board of Directors

The School Board of the American International School of Nouakchott was established in 1978 under the founding documents that created the school.  It is composed of five members who are elected by the school association of parents.  There is also one non-voting member appointed by the Ambassador of the United States. At all times, three of the five elected positions must be citizens of the United States.

When a vacancy occurs, any parent can offer to be a candidate. Elections are usually held in the spring, but can be held anytime a vacancy exists. The School Board hires the Director and sets the policy to guide the school, making sure new programs align with the school’s mission and vision statement.

Members of the association are welcome to attend our monthly meetings. Please contact the Director or the Board Chair for more information.
