Director's Welcome 

  Hello, I'm Nora Nestor. I'm excited to join you as your Head of School this August. 

First, I want to say that I am standing on the shoulders of great leaders who came before me. Mark Decker, along with the educators, Board members, and families who have poured their hearts into AISN over the years, built a foundation of care and excellence. I am here to build on that foundation, to listen, to learn from you, and to shape the future of AISN together. AISN has been "Committed to Excellence since 1978." Together, we will redefine what excellence means in 2026 and beyond. For me, excellence means rigorous academics and transformational impact. It means a school that does not isolate itself from the world around it.

I believe a school is a community of co-learners: teachers, leaders, parents, and young people together. That means adults must keep growing too. Adult learning is just as essential as the learning of young people. Our youth deserve adults who understand the world they are inheriting. AISN's students are privileged to live in one of the world's most resilient countries. With that privilege comes responsibility. Our learning must support the communities right outside our gates. The Sustainable Development Goals give us a framework to do exactly that: rigorous learning grounded in real action.

Beyond the classrooms and the curriculum, I believe in building real relationships with parents and with the culture of Mauritania. I want to know your hopes, understand your needs, and learn from you so that AISN becomes part of the fabric of this community.
